Membership shall be open to welding professionals, suppliers and service providers, corporate bodies and legal entities which meet the requirements of the Bureau.

Membership Classification
Membership is divided into the following categories:
Fellow of the GWB (FGWB)
A fellow is a highest class of Membership conferred on a Senior Professional Member of the Institution who has the requisite qualification and experience in the Welding Profession and who has immensely contributed to the advancement of the Institution

Senior Professional Member (SPM- GWB)
Professional Member of the Institution who has the requisite Degree or Diploma in Welding with 10 years or more relevant experience in the welding industry
Professional Member (PM- GWB)
A graduate, or a diploma holder of, a university or college with 5 years or more relevant welding experience.
Associate Member (AM- GWB)
A graduate, or a diploma holder of a university or college or equivalent professional Qualification in Welding but with less than 5 years relevant welding experience.
Student Member/Apprentice Member
A student of an accredited welding institution pursuing welding as a profession An apprentice member is a person undergoing training in Welding under a certified Master Craftsman within a stated duration and who shall become a welder upon completion of apprenticeship
Ordinary Member
Those with experience relevant to welding but without any degree or diploma or any relevant qualifications may also apply for consideration. Master Craftsmen without requisite qualifications may be considered for this class
Note: An ordinary member is allowed to vote.
Honorary Member
For those in the opinion of the committee, who have rendered or are in the position to render conspicuous service to the society and advancement of welding.
Corporate Member/Affiliate Member
For Companies, Service Providers, Universities and Educational Training Institutions engaged in relation to welding.
The company shall nominate two of its employees to represent it in any of the society’s activities.
Become a Member
Every applicant whose application has been approved by the committee shall be admitted to various grades of membership of the society and shall be entitled to all privileges of membership.
All Members except Corporate member shall have the right to vote and to hold office in the Institution.
No university or college students can be allowed to be a member of the society without the prior written approval from the Vice-chancellor of the university concerned.
